Exchange
Since its inception, the Indiana Employers Quality Health Alliance has played a
strong supporting role in the establishment of a common information platform for
the exchange of clinical and administrative data among health care providers, and
to make this data available for quality and efficiency improvement programs.
Initiated by a group of physicians, the IEQHA president chaired the initial
organizing group, which was funded by a grant obtained on their behalf by the
IEQHA. This group eventually became a broad-based community effort supported
by BioCrossroads and known as the Indiana Health Information Exchange.
Dr. Ned Lamkin, IEQHA President continues to serve on the IHIE Board of Directors
and its Executive Committee. IHIE is currently implementing Clinical Messaging
(transfer of clinical data) between local hospitals, outpatient services and doctors
offices. Dr. Overhage, CEO, and Tom Penno, COO, are looking toward
implementation of additional services as well.
